Prescott and the Book of Prescottian Wisdom
Prescott the magical chameleon is a wise old sage not unlike Yoda in Star Wars. In the preface of each book is the following statement.
“Epigrams at the beginning of each chapter are quotes selected from the Book of Prescottian Wisdom.”
The epigrams give a hint of some of the things the reader can expect to discover in the chapter. They are short concise pearls of wisdom that might become words for the reader to live by. Teachers and parents can use the epigrams to have meaningful discussion with their students and children.

“I was hooked from the start with the vivid descriptions and the intrigue of a talking chameleon guiding the young hero. As a parent and teacher, I was captured by the action and integrity. The book speaks to children. It is relatable. Kids love powers and super heroes. Better yet, parents and teachers are attracted to this young book hero who has powers that are activated and strengthened by virtues. The author has a knack for kid connection. This book is an adventurous treat for children and adults alike. Find a young friend and read it together.”

“My students used adjectives like “hypnotizing, mysterious, and superb” to describe the story. Young readers will be captivated by the plot of the story, but they won’t fail to recognize that the goodness in Lucas’s heart is the true source of his power. This book is perfectly suited for the minds and hearts of children.”

“Hugo, your visit was most inspirational. We truly appreciated your visit. The presentation was fabulous. I really enjoyed your read aloud portion. There is nothing like an author reading their own text. The sensory description in your writing is a true teaching tool for our budding writers. Meeting your wonderful family and co-author grandson was a joy. You must be most proud. Thank you once again.”

“We had the pleasure of having Mr. Haselhuhn at a wonderful assembly. I had just finished reading Lucas Lightfoot and the Fire Crystal to my class as a read aloud. What a great book! There were so many talking points and opportunities to discuss students’ ability to be powerful and successful in their own lives by making excellent choices and setting goals. My students were highly interested and engaged in the discussions. The daily reading also provided ample ideas for writing about and discussing social emotional learning. It was MAGIC! M: Mind; A: Attitude; G: Goals; I: Integrity & C: Choice. This book will be part of my routine for the beginning of the school year every year! Thank you Lucas and Mr. Haselhuhn!”
